𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐮 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐚𝐞-𝐣𝐮𝐠 𝐋𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠

𝑺𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒈, 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒈 | 21 𝑺𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 2026— The inaugural 𝑺𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒈 𝑫𝒓𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒌𝒉𝒂𝒈 𝑻𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒖 concluded today at the revered Yae-jug Lhakhang, marking an important milestone in the spiritual life of the highland communities of Merak and Sakteng.

Held from 20 to 21 September 2026, the Tshechu was conducted formally for the first time with the support of the Dzongkhag Administration and Drungkhag Administration. The two-day celebration brought together the monastic body, local leaders, civil servants, community members, and devotees for sacred rituals, mask dances, and religious ceremonies.

The main highlight of the inaugural Tshechu was the sacred launch of the 𝐀𝐦𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦/𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, performed to invoke the blessings and protection of the revered guardian deity for the highland communities of Merak and Sakteng. The occasion offered the community an opportunity to reaffirm its longstanding spiritual connection with Ama Jomo Kuencham, revered as a guardian of the land, livestock, and wellbeing of the people.

The occasion was graced by Dasho Tashi Tenzin, Member of Parliament for Radhi–Sakteng Constituency, along with the Dasho Dzongdag, Dasho Dzongrab, and Dasho Drangpoen of Trashigang Dzongkhag.

The successful conduct of the first Tshechu was made possible through the collective efforts of the monastic body, local leaders, civil servants, volunteers, and the people of Sakteng. Their wholehearted participation and devotion contributed to the significance of the inaugural celebration and reflected the strong community spirit surrounding the occasion.

Going forward, the Sakteng Drungkhag Tshechu will be observed annually, becoming an integral part of the spiritual calendar of Merak and Sakteng and providing an occasion for communities to come together in prayer, devotion, and celebration.

The Drungkhag Administration extends its sincere appreciation and Tashi Delek to all individuals and institutions who contributed to the successful conduct of the inaugural Tshechu.

The celebration concluded with prayers for the continued blessings of Ama Jomo, and for peace, harmony, prosperity, and wellbeing among the highland communities.
