The Electronic Patient Information System (ePIS) is a key component of the Digital Drukyul flagship project, aimed at digitizing healthcare to enhance public services. Officially launched on April 21, 2023, at JDWNRH, it has been implemented in 28 health facilities to this date.
On July 31, 2024, the system was inaugurated at Kanglung Hospital by the Honorable Dasho Dzongda of Trashigang, making it the first hospital in Trashigang Dzongkhag and the 29th hospital in Bhutan to adopt this sysem.
The ePIS system aims to create a unified electronic health record accessible from any health facility, provide evidence-based data for research and interventions, reduce medical errors, eliminate duplication in patient care, and generally improve healthcare outcomes. The public is advised to bring their citizenship identity cards (CID) or any official identification documents issued by the government for patient registration while visiting the hospitals.
