On 26th June 2026, the Livestock Sector, Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration, in collaboration with the Royal Insurance Corporation of Bhutan (RICBL), brought a game-changing message straight to the doorsteps of farmers — your piggery, poultry, and dairy cattle can now be insured.

In a dedicated advocacy session held for farmers across the dzongkhag, officials walked communities through the National Crop and Livestock Insurance Scheme — a landmark policy approved by the 48th session of the fourth Lhengye Zhungtshog on 24th April 2025, and officially launched on 11th November 2025, coinciding with the auspicious 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

Cattle farmers pay just 5% premium — the Government covers the other 5%

Piggery and poultry farmers pay only 3% — with the remaining 3% borne by the Government

A 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement — because the Government stands beside every farmer.
