Trashigang, January 26, 2026:
The handingβtaking of the Health Sector from the National Medical Services (NMS) to the Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration was formally completed yesterday. Under this new arrangement, clinical services will continue to be managed by NMS, while the Dzongkhag Administration will take full responsibility for preventive and public health services across Trashigang Dzongkhag.
All health facilities under Trashigang Dzongkhagβexcept the Trashigang Cluster Hospitalβwill now report to the Dzongkhag Health Sector for preventive health planning, implementation, and coordination. This clear functional separation is expected to strengthen service delivery, enhance disease prevention, and promote healthier communities through stronger local ownership.
The transition marks a key milestone under Health Transformation 2.0, reinforcing collaboration between NMS and the Dzongkhag in building a resilient, people-centred health system.
