In a landmark initiative blending conservation, education, and sustainable tourism, the Bhutan Glory Wildlife Trail was officially inaugurated in Kanglung, marking another meaningful milestone in the buildup programmes commemorating the birth anniversary of His Majesty The King.
Nestled just below Yonphula Airport, the newly established trail converts one of eastern Bhutanโs most biodiverse landscapes into an immersive nature-learning space โ envisioned as a โGreen Classroomโ where conservation meets education and tourism meets responsibility.
The site has long been known among locals, birdwatchers, and researchers as a natural sanctuary where birds, butterflies, and diverse forest species thrive. The dense vegetation and favourable ecological conditions make the area a seasonal haven for migratory birds, rare butterflies, moths, orchids, and small mammals.
Recognizing this ecological wealth, Dzongkhag developed the Bhutan Glory Wildlife Trail as a guided nature immersion route designed to allow visitors to experience biodiversity without disturbing it. Carefully laid walking paths, observation points, and interpretive signage now enable visitors to learn about ecosystems while moving gently through the forest landscape.
Beyond its scenic beauty, the trail represents a deeper message: that learning can happen beneath forest canopies, that conservation can empower communities, and that development can walk hand in hand with nature.
