Under clear morning skies and a sense of shared purpose, the TshowoongPoktor Integrated Farm marked a significant milestone as the mass plantation of bananas commenced on 5 May 2026. The initiative was formally launched with a thruesel ceremonyβgrounded in tradition, yet firmly focused on the future.
What unfolded was more than a planting exercise. It was a deliberate step toward transforming land into livelihood, and vision into tangible progress.
Led by Agriculture Extension Supervisors, a total of 338 banana plants are now taking root across the farm. The effort reflects a broader strategy: to ensure optimal utilization of available farmland, to strengthen and diversify income streams, and to establish natural fire lines that can serve as a protective barrier during forest fire seasons.
Each sapling planted carries with it a promiseβnot just of fruit, but of resilience and sustainability.
This momentum builds on groundwork laid just a week earlier. Dzongkhag Livestock Extension Supervisors had initiated the plantation of a vital fodder crop known as phakchung across 1.6 acres within the same farm. The move is aimed at supporting dairy farming, ensuring a steady and sustainable source of feed, and reinforcing the integrated nature of the farmβs operations.
Together, these efforts signal a thoughtful, coordinated approach to rural developmentβwhere agriculture and livestock systems are not isolated, but interconnected and mutually reinforcing.
At TshowoongPoktor, the story is still unfolding. But already, the message is clear: when land, leadership, and local expertise come together with purpose, growth is not just expectedβit is inevitable.
