Kanglung, Trashigang | 17 February 2026

In a meaningful step toward strengthening local livelihoods and promoting community wellbeing, the Trashigang Dzongkhag Administration inaugurated the Saturday Vegetable Shed at Kanglung, marking an important milestone under the ongoing buildup programmes leading to the birth anniversary celebrations of His Majesty The King.

The Saturday Vegetable Shed has been designed to provide local farmers with a dedicated and organized space to sell fresh, locally grown produce. For years, many small-scale farmers in surrounding gewogs faced challenges in accessing reliable markets, often relying on informal roadside sales with limited reach and inconsistent income.

With this new facility, farmers will now benefit from improved visibility, fair pricing opportunities, and a stable marketplace that promotes locally produced vegetables and organic farming practices.

The newly established vegetable shed, located strategically in Kanglung, is expected to serve as a vibrant weekly marketplace connecting farmers directly with consumers while encouraging healthy food systems within the region. The initiative is not merely an infrastructure development but a livelihood intervention aimed at empowering rural households.
